New! My Chicago restaurant writeups!

New Feature: Vegan Chicago, Restaurant-by-Restaurant

Recently Added: Listing for Karyn's Cooked, update to Dharma Garden, and sad news that Pizza Metro's crust isn't vegan.

At the request of my lovely lady Vanessa, I have compiled more in-depth reviews of most of our favorite places to eat vegan food in Chicago. This is a work-in-progress and by no means comprehensive, just giving a little more info on the places whose menus I know best. I'm starting with 10 and will add more as I have time (and experience).

Coming soon: Amitabul, Karyn's Fresh Corner, Arya Bhavan, Mysore Woodlands, Blind Faith and more. Enjoy!

Below I have the beginnings of a "Vegan Map of Chicago."
There are a ton of places missing (fancy places downtown, etc)
but it covers all of the above plus a couple more.
Keep in mind that this map represents about 30 MILES
from top to bottom, so things aren't as close as they seem! :)

Please note:
My site is NOT any kind of official "Chicago Vegan" site. For a great restaurant guide from an excellent organization, visit VegChicago.com. With the proliferation of digital cameras and cheap web hosting, I encourage every vegan to document their own good-looking vegan food to share with the world...the more the scarier!

Please also note: The all-vegetarian restaurant called "Victory's Banner," which is sadly within 1/2 mile of my apartment, can fuck off. This wacko place consistently fails to have anything interesting for vegans to eat, and has actually chuckled more than once when asked about vegan specials. I have had a good meal here in the past (one-time only vegan breakfast special, apparently), but since they can't be bothered to add more vegan options to a meatless menu, and act patronizing when asked about vegan specials, I will never step foot in their cult-religion cheese-and-egg brunch mecca again. Lame!
