Many places attract me, but ruins in particular.
I like to imagine what transpired in their now-vacant spaces, the laughter, the food, the coming-and-going of masses of people who never fathomed that the space they occupied would eventually be abandoned and (almost) forgotten. I like this decay, where nature begins to reclaim spaces...it gives me hope for the impermanence of humankind's scourge of the earth.
Please e-mail me if you have more info about any of these. Again, these are NOT stock photos and are absolutely NOT for commercial use.

2000. Route 13, Eastern Shore, VA. This place was nice. It's good when you can look in the windows.
2001. Somewhere in rural North Carolina. This disco was in the middle of nowhere. Reminds me of one of my favorite books, Juke Joints.
1998. Northern Lower Penninsula, MI. Either Route 37 or the 2-lane stretch of 131... I should take notes!

2000. N. Military Hwy, Norfolk, VA. Abandoned Chinese restaurant, "Majestic House."
2000. Rear view of the Majestic House. Strange, there's still stuff all around.
10/01, Near Kent, VA. Abandoned restaurant, "Andersons." See exterior.

Orlando, FL, 3/01. I spent 45 minutes wandering around an abandoned fun park just off the I-Drive strip called "Fun N' Wheels."
"Fun N' Wheels" must've been something in its day... it had a ferris wheel, water-slides, mini-golf, go-karts, arcade, N' god knows what else.
The place appeared to have been abandoned for at least 5 years, but because of its prime location, its days are numbered. Too bad.

1999. Northern Lower Penninsula, MI. Somewhere near Houghton Lake, I think. Very curious-looking.
1998. Route 2, Michigan's Upper Penninsula. Maybe my all-time favorite strech o' road. Beautiful scereny, desolation, and "Pasties" at every turn.
1998. Downtown Duluth, MN. Not really a ruin like most of these, just a damn intersting specimen of wallpaper, tile, and a newly-revealed wall.

3/01. These three go together. An abandoned restaurant/ bar/ motel/ motorist trap in North Carolina, Route 13 or 17, near some RR tracks and a river.
The river must've been part of this place's appeal, because it seemed like the restaurant overlooked it, and there may have also been a place to dock a boat. Motel portion w/ garbage strewn about.
A beautiful sign specimen which has been painted over several times and is revealing its layers. Other parts of it were laying around; I wanted to take one but it's better to let others enjoy it.
More photos of ruins coming soon.
