W.W. Fairbairn & Sons sign. I took a film photo of this in 98 or so, they've kept the sign but painted it with gold instead of silver. Nice! Heading over Big Mac, north to St. Ignace. Some sketchy driving at times on this bridge. Used to be a world-record holder; still world-class. Dick Evans. Mackinac Bridge looking a little rough in the center.

The Mystery Spot. I conned my parents into going as a kid. Vanessa wanted to go but we didn't...this time. Certainly next time. The Balsams Motel and Cabins on beautiful Highway 22, UP One of the dozens of opportunities for Pasties (like a little hand-held pot pie, pronounced with a soft "a") along 22.

More Pasties, this one claims international fame. No veggie options though. A beautiful old sign that defies critique. Too bad the woman inside was a mean-eyed old slag. Some of that breathtaking Upper Peninsula landscape that haunts me. One of my favorite places on earth.

Driving west along 22. This pasties place had vegetarian ones, but they had cheese in them so we had to pass. You wouldn't belive where tourists came from (map inside with markings). All over the world! White Tail Resort.

More lovely UP landscapes More of the usual A sad, sad day. The Enga-Diner in Engadine, where the friendly purveyor proudly told me years ago that his "wife made the best (pan)cakes in the Upper," appears to be no more. They will be sorely missed.
