Kurt tossing Ryan a football in Ryan's apartment. This got kind of brutal after a few tosses. Nye's Polonaise Room, a bar just over the river on Central. Beautiful inside and out. Ryan had Polish beers and I watched an attractive Cougar dance with an old man. Awesome hand-painted signage, 27th and Nicollet. My breakfast of oatmeal and orange juice at the French Meadow. Totally overpriced and mediocre, should've gone back to the Seward...

Kurt and Vanessa pleasantly surprised us with a breakfast visit. Here they are in their approach. Kurt munching on toass. Vanessa munching on oatmeal or something. She takes it with salt instead of sugar. It's only a matter of time before this classic signage disappears from the Rex Hardware store on 26th and Lyndale...the master who painted it died.

...and the jackasses who are in charge now can't do touch-up to save their lives. A travesty and a shame. Warning sticker with menacing electricty character. Masterful signage on Nicollet. This place used to have some REALLY creepy hands with grotesquely-rendered fingernails, but they're painted-over now. Too bad. Here's some sort-of scary people of the 80's clip art variety. Mom's about to tear Junior's scalp off with her razornails.

Ryan's living room, the painting he gave me (lower left), and the weird couch I slept on. More of Ryan's living room. Notice my Stool of Pine in the background. Nice. Ryan working on the computer, researching via Google other people with the moniker "Ryno" who totally suck. Wall-hangings at Ryan's place: Willie, Johnny, and Cee Dell Davis. Outstanding.

Some stuff in Ryan's room, bulletin board and one of Michael Gaughan's paintings of police brutality. Wonderful photo-holder at Ryan's. See who you can find in there... Knick-knacks, or "misties" as Ryan says in mimicry of Draplin and Rose. Beautifu stuff. A real treasure of Wildlife Art from Saver's.

Goodbye Minneapolis, I love you. Beautiful van in a parking lot where we ate. Precision detailing, right-on windows, multicolored shag interior: the works. We got to PRAY just to make it to-day. Part of a striking (huge) sign that was screenprinted. I was impressed by the craft of it.

A classic that you should stop and notice. The word "ICE" is written with different snow formations at the bottom of the thing. This is pre-computer, people. Don't miss the pitch here: "Stanley Karemba from Karacow Poland Loves Our Biscuits and Gravy!" Wow. Another poignant slice of Americana: "We Refuse to Forget!" Now that's the right attitude. Jesus Christ. Beautiful Motel signage on Lincoln Avenue, Chicago.
