Images from a roll of Kodacolor 126 film, found inside an "Instamatic X-15" model camera purchased at Thrift Store City (Norfolk, VA) at the cost of 45¢. Matt Partridge bought the camera for me as a gift and didn't know that a roll of exposed film was inside, which made for a pleasant surprise upon opening.
I naturally wanted to know what, if anything, could remain on a 20-year old roll of film. After some calling around and speculation, I got the film processed (not printed, since that's $16/roll and I didn't feel like gambling). The negatives were disappointingly light, with very little visible detail, but after seeing them through a loupe, I decided it'd be worth it to attempt scanning them.
The results aren't ideal, since the negative scanner is built for 35mm and cropped out some of the image area in the normally-square compositions. I also had to wildly adjust levels, etc., in Photoshop to make any detail visible at all, but I found the results quite pleasing, if inconsistent. Click to enlarge.
