Overworked

Sorry for the sparse entries these last weeks and months, but I'm currently working about 80 hours a week (including saturdays and sundays!) in an effort to finish the Scooterworks catalog. I don't think I've mentioned it before, but I'm also working on a freelance project, designing a 300+ page vegetarian cookbook for a large San Francisco-based publisher. So between those two projects I stumble home and sleep for a few hours a night, and that's about the size of it.

I got a sweet deal on a new Stella scooter, which I've completely disassembled and am going to have painted...brown. You never really see brown vehicles these days, especially scooters, but you should. It's a good color. Maybe with lighter brown accents, or some analagous color that adds interest. Trying to find a source for automotive paint codes first, then it'll get done. The wiring harness in that thing is a nasty force to be reckoned with; I'd like to tear it out and throw a much simpler one in there (getting rid of useless features like the electric start, gas gauge, and audible beepers in the process). We'll see, though I don't have high hopes.

Have been catching up somewhat with family lately, and that is a good thing. A couple of uncles (south dakota and new york, respectively), some Chicago relatives and my grandma's oldest sister, who is 90+ and not doing terribly well.

Will be really, really glad when the catalog is done so that I can have a little bit of a life again. Vanessa and I are taking a much-needed respite this Friday (for 4 days), going back to Virginee for PETA buddy Ken's wedding. Will be staying with Tal and Robyn, who share their home with the Big Boss. Absolutely can't wait.

To those who would criticize my "swearing" on this site, consider the context I come from and compare me to several other members of the family...I could've turned out a lot worse. For starters, my parents and most of my relatives swear liberally. Continuing on, I DID go to college, I DO have a steady job, I DON'T live with (or by means of) my parents at age 40+, I DON'T do crystal meth, coke, speed, pot, or any number of other drugs (or even deal them), I DON'T drink, I DON'T smoke, I DON'T steal, etc, etc, etc. You get the point. So lay the fuck off.

Glad to hear you're doing well PJ. Congrats on the new scooter. Hope it treats you well! If swearing is your worst habit then you're doing great.
