Sad news: Paul, my former co-worker at PETA, lost his kitty Moxie, who passed away after a few days of sickness. She was 6 years old, grey, and cute as can be. Let this be a gentle reminder to all of us who share our lives with furry little critter companions: savor their unique personalities (for instance, Tatsu is a filthy drunk swamp rat, while Yu is a Buddhist angel straight from Heaven), and appreciate their gifts (shredded couch) and strange ways (showering with me), because you never know how long you'll get to have them. I'm the first person who should spend more time at home just hanging out with my cats. Kurt is the best example I can imagine of someone who really appreciates their cat, to the extreme.
Additionally, my friend Naz just suffered the loss of an aunt. Lately I've had the feeling that my own luck has to be running out, and that sooner than later, I am going to lose someone in the family. I've had a quickening gut feeling to make it home to Michigan to spend time with the relatives, to call the grandparents just to chat, etc. I'm almost embarassed at how fortunate I am to still have most of my grandparents at age 25 (I have six instead of just four, long story), and ashamed that I don't get home to see them often enough.
I'll leave you with a piece of good news: Today is Luther's birthday, so we're going to Soul Veg to celebrate. Want anything while I'm there?

Posted by: Ryno at July 1, 2003 08:48 PMwarning pj: do not share 1 order of onion rings, 1 order of tofu tidbits, 1 order of protein tidbits, all followed by your own gyro. the results are illegal to describe on the internet. i am currently suffering from what is known only as post-extreme-maximum-soul-veg-syndrome.
